The News: Renovations at the Georgia Ports Authority’s Ocean Terminal in Savannah are now 55% complete as part of a $1.6 billion modernization project. The redevelopment will increase the terminal’s annual container capacity from 200,000 TEUs to 1.75 million TEUs, add new berths capable of handling larger vessels, improve truck access with expanded gate infrastructure, and enhance cargo movement throughout the Port of Savannah. The first phase of the container yard is expected to open in 2027, with full completion scheduled for 2028.
SITEBOXX Take: Port infrastructure continues to be one of the strongest long-term drivers of industrial site selection. Major port investments like this often generate follow-on demand for warehouses, suppliers, and advanced manufacturing facilities throughout the region.
